Haryana: Saini government’s problems are increasing continuously, demand for floor test is rising in the assembly.

Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Haryana, Independent MLA Balraj Kundu from Meham assembly constituency of Rohtak district has written a letter to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya demanding imposition of President’s rule in the state. In his letter, the Maham MLA has demanded the Governor of Haryana to conduct a floor test in the Assembly, citing the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini being in minority. It is noteworthy that the recent development comes after three independent MLAs of the state withdrew their support to the ruling BJP government in the state.

The three MLAs – Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Golen and Dharampal Gonder – had earlier announced their decision at a press conference held in Rohtak, saying they would now support the Congress in the elections. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Uday Bhan were also present at the press conference. Speaking to the media, Gounder (one of the MLAs) said, “We are withdrawing support from the government. We are extending our support to the Congress.” He further said that we have taken this decision on various issues including issues related to farmers.

Meanwhile, this development comes just two months after the BJP parted ways with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP, whose 10 MLAs had helped the BJP form the government in the state in 2019. At least six out of 10 JJP MLAs have distanced themselves from it. Earlier, former Deputy Chief Minister and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala had written to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, demanding immediate action regarding the current political situation in Haryana. In his letter, the former NDA colleague urged the Governor to call the floor test immediately. He said that if BJP fails to prove majority then President’s rule should be imposed immediately.

However, amid the current controversy, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has said that the government is safe in the state. Earlier, while talking to the media, Haryana CM accused Congress of misleading the people. He said, “They have nothing to do with anyone. They want to mislead people. They should give the Governor in writing how many MLAs they have but do not mislead like this. We have recently won the trust vote. We will win it again when the time comes…They want to divert people’s attention, there have been corruption and scams during the Congress rule…’
