heavy police force deployed near delhi shahi idgah

Big news came out about Delhi’s Shahi Idgah Mosque. There was a rumor of organizing a protest regarding the transfer of Rani Lakshmibai’s statue. After this, the Delhi Police administration came into action. After the news went viral, heavy police force was deployed around Shahi Idgah near Sadar Bazar police station. Earlier, the Delhi High Court reprimanded the Shahi Idgah Management Committee and rejected the petition demanding a ban on installing the statue of Rani Lakshmibai inside the Shahi Idgah Park.

In its observations, the court said that history should not be divided on communal lines. The court further remarked that ‘Jhansi Ki Maharani’ (Rani Lakshmibai) is a national hero transcending all religious boundaries. The court dismissed the petition, calling it reprehensible. Communal politics is being played through the court.

The petition of Delhi Shahi Idgah Management Committee was earlier also rejected by a single bench of Delhi High Court. The committee had filed a petition before another bench of the court. The court termed the petition of the Idgah Committee as divisive and said that it is doing communal politics and using the court in this process. The court also objected to the words used in the appeal against the single judge who gave the verdict against the committee and said that these reprehensible arguments are inappropriate towards the judge.
