CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to the working president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at the Raj Bhawan in Ranchi.

Hemant Soren on Thursday once again took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand after being released from jail after nearly five months in a money laundering case. Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to the working president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi.

The JMM had said earlier in the day that Soren will take oath as chief minister on July 7 after Governor CP Radhakrishnan invited him to form government in the state. Congress state unit president Rajesh Thakur said the decision was taken at a meeting of alliance partners at Soren’s residence.

Later, the JMM-led coalition decided that Soren would take oath on Thursday. It is worth noting that Champai Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister on Wednesday and Hemant Soren, who is out on bail in a money laundering case, staked claim to form the government. The JMM-led coalition delegation met Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The delegation led by Hemant Soren included Congress state unit president Rajesh Thakur, RJD minister Satyanand Bhokta and CPI (ML)-L MLA Vinod Singh. The delegation also included Gandey MLA and Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren.
