Chennai. Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto does not want his team to be euphoric after the series win against Pakistan. Instead, he wants the team to focus on facing a strong Indian team in the two-Test series starting here on Thursday. The Bangladesh team has reached here after winning the two-Test series against Pakistan 2-0 on its soil. Shanto told reporters on the eve of the match here on Wednesday, “I believe we played very good cricket in Pakistan, which boosted our morale a lot but now it is a thing of the past.”
He said, “We have come here to play a new series and our players are confident that we can play good cricket. We are not thinking about the result and are just trying to follow the process.” Despite the excellent performance against Pakistan, it will not be easy for Bangladesh to play in India but Shanto believes that the conditions will not make much difference. He said, “India’s team is very strong. We know that it is strong in all three departments – batting, bowling and fielding but we are not thinking about the conditions. We are only thinking about our team.”
All eyes will be on Bangladesh’s young fast bowler Nahid Rana who performed very well in Pakistan. But Shanto said that his focus is not only on the performance of one player. He said, “His performance is encouraging and the way he bowled against Pakistan was really impressive but I will not put my full attention on one player. I believe that all the fast bowlers performed well in Pakistan. Hopefully they will perform well here too. Shanto said, “Most of the players have become experienced in the last 10-15 years. Now they have learned to control their emotions. Now we do not think about winning or losing but about our game. We try to give our best in every match.
