The ICC has made a big announcement for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. In fact, for the first time a panel of women match officials has been formed for the entire event. Be it match referee or umpire, this time women will handle all the responsibilities in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Let us tell you that a big decision has been taken by the ICC. For this, a total of 13 match officials including 10 umpires and 3 match referees have been announced.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will start from October 3 and the final will be played on October 20. The Bangladesh Cricket Board had to host it in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Because the situation in Bangladesh had also worsened due to the coup. In such a situation, the ICC shifted it to the UAE.
At the same time, experienced umpires have also got a place in the panel for this mega tournament, who already have experience of umpiring in the T20 World Cup. Among them, Claire Polosak will umpire in the T20 World Cup for the fifth time, while Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams will take up the responsibility of umpire for the fourth time.
Sue Redfern was the TV umpire in the last final. She will also be umpiring in the mega event for the fourth time. Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana will be in the role of match officials in the tournament for the first time. GS Lakshmi, Shandre Fritz and Michelle Perera have been given the responsibility of match referee. GS Lakshmi has 12 years of experience.
