ICC released the schedule for Women T20 World Cup, practice matches will start from this day

Now the ICC has released the new schedule of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The Women’s T20 World Cup was earlier to be held in Bangladesh. But due to the violence in Bangladesh, it will not be held there. The ICC has taken over the hosting from Bangladesh. Now its new venue is the UAE. Now the matches of the ICC T20 World Cup will be held in Dubai and Sharjah.
The warm-up matches for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup were announced on Tuesday, with India playing West Indies and South Africa to prepare for the major event. According to the ICC, the warm-up matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates from Saturday, September 28 to Tuesday, October 1. All 10 teams that have qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take part in the warm-up matches, with each team playing two warm-up matches.
These practice matches will be of 20 overs and will not get the status of international T20, so that teams can field all the members of their 15-player squad. No two teams from the same group will face each other in the practice round. In the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, Group A includes defending champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Group B has England, South Africa, West Indies, Scotland and Bangladesh.

The practice matches will begin on September 28 with Pakistan taking on Scotland and Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh. The next day Australia will take on arch-rivals England, while India will take on 2016 champions West Indies on the same day.

In last year’s T20 World Cup, Australia won their sixth title by defeating South Africa by 19 runs at their home. At the same time, India reached the semi-finals but lost to Australia by five runs. After shifting the tournament from Bangladesh to the UAE, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday changed the schedule to be played in Dubai and Sharjah.

Six-time champions Australia are placed in Group A along with 2020 runners-up India, trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand and Asian sides Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the tournament to be held in October. South Africa and England are placed in Group B along with 2016 champions West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland.

Sri Lanka and Scotland qualified for the tournament through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Each team will play four group matches in the tournament, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals on October 17 and 18 followed by the final in Dubai on October 20. A reserve day has been fixed for both the semi-finals and the final.
