Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a metro train in Pune on Thursday. According to an official statement, the inauguration of the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate will mark the completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1). The Prime Minister will flag off a metro train running from District Court Metro Station to Swargate in Pune, the PMO said. With the inauguration of this metro section, the first phase of the Pune Metro Rail Project will be completed. The underground section between District Court to Swargate costs around Rs 1,810 crore. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Swargate-Katraj Extension of Pune Metro Phase-1 to be developed at a cost of around Rs 2,950 crore.

What is the cost of the first phase of the Pune Metro project?
The underground section between District Court to Swargate is reported to cost around Rs 1,810 crore. The Prime Minister will also launch various development projects worth over Rs 22,600 crore. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, which will be developed at a cost of around Rs 2,950 crore. This southern extension of around 5.46 km is completely underground, with three stations namely Market Yard, Padmavati and Katraj, it said. Apart from other projects, he will lay the foundation stone of a memorial in memory of renowned social reformer Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule and her first Balika Vidyalaya at Bhidewada.

Other projects
In line with his commitment to make India self-reliant in the field of supercomputing technology, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation three PARAM Rudra supercomputers costing around Rs 130 crore, indigenously developed under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), the PMO said. These supercomputers have been deployed in Pune, Delhi and Kolkata to facilitate frontier scientific research. The Giant Meter Radio Telescope (GMRT) in Pune will leverage the supercomputers to detect fast radio bursts and other astronomical phenomena. The Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in Delhi will enhance research in areas such as material science and nuclear physics while the SN Bose Centre in Kolkata will advance advanced research in areas such as physics, cosmology and earth sciences, the PMO said. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a High Performance Computing (HPC) system tailored for weather and climate research. The Prime Minister will launch various initiatives worth Rs 10,400 crore in the petroleum and natural gas sector.
