The first Test match of the India-Bangladesh Test series will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19. The second Test match will be played at Green Park in Kanpur from September 27. The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma had already reached Chennai to further strengthen its preparations. The relationship between Chepauk and Team India is very long and historic. In 1952, India achieved its first Test victory in Chennai. Which was a milestone in the history of Indian cricket. India also made the highest score in the history of Test cricket on this ground. In the Test match against England in 2016, India scored a huge score of 759/7 runs due to Karun Nair’s brilliant innings of 303* runs.
 
 Earlier, Virender Sehwag also scored his best score in Test cricket on this ground against South Africa in 2008. The capacity of spectators in Chepauk is about 38,000. The spectators here are considered to be very knowledgeable and full of sportsmanship. When Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar scored the highest score of 194 runs in ODI in 1997, the spectators stood up and applauded.
This ground also hosted the inaugural Ranji Trophy match in 1936 when Madras played Mysore. In 1986, the Test match between India and Australia ended in a tie here in which Dale Jones scored 210 runs. It was also the ground where Narendra Hirwani took 16 wickets for 136 runs on his Test debut.
So far 34 Test matches have been played at Chepauk. During this time, the Indian team won 15 matches, while it lost 7 matches. At the same time, 11 matches were drawn and one match ended in a tie. The team batting first at Chepauk has won 13 Test matches. The Indian team played its last Test match here in 2021 against England, in which it won a spectacular victory by 317 runs.
