New Delhi. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday suggested setting up a township dedicated to entrepreneurs and startups in India on the lines of America’s famous Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley is the southern part of America’s San Francisco Bay Area. It is considered the stronghold of information technology (IT) and new technology based companies all over the world. Goyal said in a program organized here on the launch of ‘Bhaskar’, a registry platform for startup companies, that India should think about creating its own Silicon Valley.
“We should aspire to go further. We should think of creating our own Silicon Valley. I know Bengaluru is the Silicon Valley of India. But I think now is the time to think of creating a new township in collaboration with NICDC, completely dedicated to entrepreneurs, startups, innovators and people dedicated to new discoveries,” he said.
Goyal said that the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) is implementing the National Industrial Corridor Development Program which aims to make new industrial cities smart cities. 20 such industrial townships will be developed in different parts of the country including Bihar, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. Along with this, Goyal also asked startup companies to join official delegations going to different countries so that they can get good experience.
