Indian Americans promised to give 100 million dollars for the development of Amritsar

Washington. A group of prominent Indian Americans has announced $100 million to startups for the socio-economic development of Amritsar. Such an announcement by the Indian community living in America for an Indian city is a new initiative in itself. The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), a group of eminent Indian-Americans and Indians living in the US, along with the ‘Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’ (FICCI) held its meeting in Maryland, Washington, where the Amritsar Initiative was developed. Was announced.

The founding members of this initiative said that the inspiration for this grand scheme is the former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who after four years of diplomatic service in Washington returned to his hometown with the promise of help from the mission. The aim of this initiative is not only to develop Amritsar as one of the best cities in the world in terms of economic and industrial development but also to develop the city as an attractive tourist destination in the world.

Soon after his return to India after retirement, Sandhu was made its candidate by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. Sandhu had also organized a conference of eminent members of the Indian diaspora in the city, which was attended by prominent Indian Americans in the US. USISPF President Mukesh Aghi reached Amritsar from America especially for this conference. The conference was co-hosted by FICCI. A few weeks later, the group announced the formally developed Amritsar Initiative in Washington, DC.

The initiative aims to provide USD 100 million to entrepreneurs in Amritsar to mentor them and make their startups successful, a statement said on Thursday. Aghi said, we have arranged an amount of about 100 million dollars for investment in startups of Amritsar. We had received more than 250 applications. We are reviewing them all. We hope to receive more applications. We would like more startups to come to Amritsar to generate employment, develop new technology and create a whole new ecosystem.
