Days ahead of his first presidential debate with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, Donald Trump has received help from former Democratic Party leader Tulsi Gabbard for his preparations. According to a report in The New York Times, the former US President has sought Gabbard’s help to sharpen his attacks against Harris in the September 10 debate. The development comes at a time when enthusiasm has grown for Harris after President Joe Biden bowed to pressure and dropped out of the presidential race after his disappointing performance in the debate with Trump.
Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party after his 2020 presidential bid, is reportedly helping Trump during practice sessions at the Republican’s private club and home, Mar-a-Lago. Donald Trump’s spokeswoman Caroline Levitt confirmed the development to the New York Times. She said the former president has proven to be one of the best debaters in political history, as evidenced by his crushing defeat of Joe Biden. He does not require traditional debate preparation but will continue to meet respected policy advisors and effective communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who successfully outmaneuvered Kamala Harris on the debate stage in 2020.
At the same time, ‘Washington Post’ has informed on the basis of the results of its survey that if elections were held in America today, then the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party and the current Vice President Kamala Harris would be the first choice of the people. The American daily newspaper Washington Post said on Thursday, “Since Biden withdrew his name from the election, Harris has gained two percent more points in terms of popularity at the national level and till Sunday she is seen leading.”
