Israeli air strikes killed 492 people, including more than 90 women and children, in the deadliest attack of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. The Israeli military had warned residents of southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate before stepping up air strikes on Hezbollah, a militant group based in the country. Thousands of Lebanese fled south, and the main highway leading out of the southern port city of Sidon was jammed with cars heading to Beirut.

Thousands of people have started leaving south Lebanon after the attacks. The government has announced that schools in some parts of the country will be opened as shelters for citizens who have been evacuated from the southern areas. Schools in the country were closed early. People immediately rushed to school to pick up their children. According to Lebanese media, buildings in Beirut, Tripoli, eastern and southern Lebanon are being opened for displaced people. Environment Minister Nasser Yassin said that schools have also been opened in Mount Lebanon, Saida.

Lebanon’s PM called it devastating
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati called the attacks devastating. Mikati postponed his plan to attend the UN General Assembly. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said, we do not wait for danger. The Israeli army informed about the attacks. In this, Army Chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi is seen giving permission to carry out more attacks from the headquarters. During the attacks, air raid sirens started ringing in North Israel. Meanwhile, America has decided that more forces will be sent there in view of the growing concern in the Middle East. Currently, 40 thousand US soldiers are deployed in this region.
