According to a PTI report, the selectors are considering giving Pant a chance in the Duleep Trophy. This will give him a chance to perform better in the red ball format. Rishabh Pant may get tough competition
In Pant’s absence, KS Bharat was given a chance, but he failed. After this, the team turned to Ishan Kishan, but there too disappointment was met. During the South Africa tour, Ishan Kishan was the team’s first choice, but he left the team citing mental fatigue. In such a situation, KL Rahul had to hand over wicketkeeping. After South Africa, he had performed well against England on home soil and secured his place.
Dhruv Jurel, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul will also be selected for the Duleep Trophy. Jurel did wicketkeeping in some matches against England in which he performed brilliantly. In such a situation, Pant will have to perform better than these three wicketkeepers. Rishabh Pant has led India to victory many times on foreign soil. Be it wicketkeeping or batting, he has proved himself every time.
