Jammu. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address three public meetings in Chenab Valley on Monday, the last day of campaigning for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader gave this information on Sunday. Voting will be held on September 18 in the first phase for 24 assembly seats spread across Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Chenab Valley and Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian districts of South Kashmir. BJP spokesperson and media center in-charge Arun Kumar Gupta said, “The Home Minister will address three public meetings in Ramban, Kishtwar and Padder on September 16.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a “huge” public rally in support of BJP candidates in Doda district. Shah is visiting Jammu region for the second time within a fortnight. Shah had earlier made a two-day visit to Jammu on September 6 and 7 and released the BJP’s manifesto for the assembly elections. During his last visit, he also addressed a workers’ conference. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also addressed two election rallies in support of BJP candidates in Ramban and Banihal on September 8.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said that the Prime Minister will again visit Jammu and Kashmir to address election rallies before the second phase of polling on September 25 and the third phase on October 1. Apart from the Home Minister and Defense Minister, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to visit Jammu on September 20. Reddy said, “Given the immense support of the people, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the BJP will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
