joe root opens up on approching sachin tendulkar test runs records

England batsman Joe Root is in great form at the moment. He scored a century in the second innings of the Lord’s Test against Sri Lanka and he seems to be getting closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test runs. After scoring two consecutive centuries in the Lord’s Test, Root reached the 7th position in the all-time list with 12377 runs. There is a gap of about three and a half thousand runs between Sachin Tendulkar sitting at the top and Root. If Root continues to bat like this, he can break Sachin’s record.

After scoring a century in the second innings of the Lord’s Test, when Joe Root was asked if he was eyeing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test runs, he said that at the moment his aim is to score as many runs as possible and he wants to contribute to the team’s victory.

England Cricket has posted a video on Eksh. In this, he said, I just want to play, and try and do my job for the team and score as many runs as I can. Also want to see where we reach. But there is no better feeling than this, I mean it is obviously amazing when you score 100 runs, you will be lying if you say that you are not happy with it. You start playing cricket only because you want to score runs.
