Actually, the final match of the 17th season of IPL was played between KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In which KKR defeated Hyderabad by 8 wickets and won the IPL trophy for the third time. This is the third title of Kolkata Knight Riders. Earlier, the team had won the title in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.

After a long wait of 10 years, Kolkata Knight Riders have won the IPL title. Actually, the final match of the 17th season of IPL was played between KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In which KKR defeated Hyderabad by 8 wickets and won the IPL trophy for the third time.

Kolkata easily achieved the small target of 114 runs by losing 1 wicket. During this, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer made a great partnership. Batting first, Hyderabad was all out for 113 runs in 18.3 overs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This is the lowest score in IPL final history. Captain Pat Cummins scored the highest runs for Hyderabad, scoring 24 runs in 19 balls. Andre Russell took three wickets for KKR while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana took two wickets each. Apart from this, Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty got one wicket each.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who came to bat after winning the toss, had a disappointing start. Abhishek Sharma was sent to the pavilion by Starc in the very first over for just 2 runs. Travis Head could not open his account. Vaibhav trapped him in his net in the second over. Rahul Tripathi (9) also did not perform well. Aiden Markram (20) tried to handle Hyderabad’s innings along with Nitish Reddy (13) but could not succeed. Both of them shared a 26-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

This is the third title for Kolkata Knight Riders. Earlier, the team had won the title in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir is now the mentor of KKR and the franchise has managed to end the title drought after 10 years.
