Major accident in Surat, five-storey building collapsed, 5-6 people were in the building, rescue operation underway

A major accident occurred when a six-storey building collapsed in Sachin Pali village of Surat on Saturday afternoon. According to reports, more than 10 people are feared trapped under the debris. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that a six-storey building collapsed in Sachin area at around 3 pm today.

A major accident occurred in Surat’s Sachin Pali village on Saturday afternoon when a 6-storey building collapsed. According to reports, more than 10 people are feared trapped under the debris. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that a six-storey building collapsed in Sachin area at around 3 pm today. Many people living in that building were trapped inside. Police and fire brigade reached the spot immediately.

The police commissioner said that a woman trapped under the debris was successfully rescued. Out of the 30 flats inside the building, 4-5 flats were occupied and the rest were vacant. Many people were at work and those who were sleeping after the night shift got trapped. The NDRF and SDRF are all working. He said that it is estimated that 5-6 people are still trapped under the debris. The report said that the building was constructed in 2017-18 but it fell into disrepair in just 6 years.

The Surat Municipal Corporation had also ordered the owner of the building to vacate it. Most of the families living there had already vacated the building. The report further states that only 5-6 families lived there while the owner lives abroad.
