Protests are continuing in Bengal demanding justice for the female doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Today, BJP workers are continuing their protest against the Mamata government. Amidst all this, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has also given her statement. She said that next week we will call the assembly session and pass a bill within 10 days to ensure death penalty for rapists. We will send this bill to the Governor.

Along with this, Mamata said that if it is not passed, we will sit outside the Raj Bhavan. This bill should be passed and they cannot escape accountability this time. She said that the purpose of the bandh called by the BJP is to defame Bengal, it is a conspiracy to derail the investigation of the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case. She claimed that if the state government had the power, we would have got the accused of the doctor’s murder hanged within seven days. She said that we will start a movement to get the death penalty for the culprits in the doctor rape-murder case.
He claimed that BJP is a party that lies, we have also done student politics. He said that the RG Kar rape victim is our sister, today’s day is dedicated to her. At the same time, Abhishek Banerjee said that we oppose the 12-hour ‘Bengal Bandh’ called by the BJP. He said that if a time-bound law related to crime against women is not passed by the Center in the next 3-4 months, the Trinamool Congress will hold a big movement in Delhi. In West Bengal, life was affected in many parts on Wednesday due to the 12-hour bandh called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in protest against the police action against the protesters during the march to the state secretariat.
Public transport services were affected due to rail and road blockades at many places in the state since morning, causing inconvenience to people. There is less movement on the roads in the capital Kolkata. Very few buses, auto rickshaws and taxis are seen on the roads. The number of private vehicles is also less. However, markets and shops are open as before. Schools and colleges are open but the attendance of employees in most private offices is very low as they have been asked to work from home. Attendance in government offices is normal as before. At the same time, the BJP alleged that two of its workers were shot in Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district.

Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said that Kolkata HC has given us permission for a seven-day dharna. We will start it from tomorrow. He said that we welcome their decision. There is no democracy here, police cannot stop firing, they can only stop BJP’s protest. Police can arrest BJP leaders, but not the accused.
