‘Apni Party’ released its manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, promising to pressurize the Center for constitutional guarantee to preserve the culture and special identity here and work to restore the statehood of this union territory. Party general secretary Rafi Mir released this manifesto at a press conference with other senior leaders. The manifesto said, “Apni Party will pressurize for constitutional guarantee to preserve the culture and special identity of Jammu and Kashmir like the provisions of Article 371 in some northeastern states. This includes land and job security. “The party said that it will continue to work to restore the statehood which was promised by the Union Home Minister on August 5, 2019. It also promised to restore the repealed and amended laws.
The manifesto said, “Apni Party will reconsider and restore all the laws that have been repealed or amended. Our party will ensure constitutional guarantees for land security and job security for local youth.” Apni Party, led by former minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state Altaf Bukhari, said that upon restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, “we will firmly demand the restoration of a bicameral legislature, consisting of both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council, as was the situation before August 5, 2019.” On the issue of return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, the party said that it believes in their honorable return and will form a high committee to resolve the issue if it comes to power. The party said that it will leave no stone unturned to ensure the immediate release of such accused who are not involved in heinous crimes.
She said the Apni Party will create an environment conducive to lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The party also said it will work to restore the powers of the cabinet and the chief minister, which were recently delegated to the lieutenant governor by the Centre. The party also promised to provide 500 units of free electricity every month to every household during winter (October to March) in Kashmir and summer (April to September) in Jammu. She said the Apni Party will provide four free LPG cylinders every year to every BPL (below poverty line) family and AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) family.
