Imphal. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has criticized the Congress for joining hands with the National Conference in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases starting from September 18. Talking to reporters, Singh accused the Congress of compromising national unity and security to fulfill its lust for power. He questioned the party’s motives for allying with the NC.

Singh said, “The Congress, which has repeatedly endangered the unity and security of the country for power, has once again exposed its secret motive by allying with Farooq Abdullah’s NC ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir elections.” The National Conference on Thursday announced a pre-poll alliance with the Congress for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. This is the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Elections for the 90-member assembly of Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1 and the counting of votes will take place on October 4.
