As per the report, the mid-size SUV, which could be called the EVX, is expected to be priced above Rs 15 lakh and will rival the likes of the Tata Curve.
Maruti Suzuki India has reportedly said that the company is preparing to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) with a range of 500 km per charge in January next year (2025). The leading automaker made the announcement on the sidelines of the annual session of industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in the national capital. Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said that the company will have a high-specification EV with a range of 500 km and it will be powered by a 60 kilowatt-hour battery.
According to the report, the mid-size SUV, which could be called the EVX, is expected to be priced above Rs 15 lakh and will take on rivals such as the Tata Curve EV and Mahindra & Mahindra’s Born EV lineup. Takeuchi said the automaker will come up with several solutions for its EV customers to address their concerns about buying an EV. The company will use the strength of its network for after-sales support.
Last month, Maruti Suzuki India said that as India aspires to become a “Vikrit Bharat” by 2047, it will introduce electric cars in the next few months in a bid to move towards a sustainable mobility future. Maruti Suzuki India Chairman RC Bhargava said the company will introduce electric cars in the next few months. He said that while electric car usage is on the rise, customers should be encouraged to buy cars with strong hybrid technology, or those using CNG or ethanol and biogas. The use of pure petrol and diesel cars should be minimised.
