Maruti Suzuki has teased a glimpse of the upcoming Swift, which is set to hit Indian roads soon, possibly on May 9. Booking is now available online or at the dealership with a token amount of Rs 11,000 only.

Know the features of the car

This new edition marks the fourth generation of India’s most loved hatchback, with fresh looks, luxurious interiors inspired by premium Maruti models and a new engine. The upcoming Swift retains its iconic size and style, with small but noticeable updates over its predecessor. Sources suggest that the Indian version will feature special bumpers and alloy wheels, slightly longer but thinner dimensions than the outgoing model, while retaining the same wheelbase, as reported by Autocar.

Talking about the interiors, the Swift gets an all-new interior, which shares components with the Baleno and Frontex models. While some dashboard panels and the 9.0-inch touchscreen housing the 9.0-inch touchscreen have seen changes, the familiar infotainment unit, HVAC controls, steering wheel and door switches remain intact. Safety features like six airbags and ESP are likely to be standard, enhancing overall safety.

new swift engine

Additionally, the new Swift features a fresh powertrain – a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which replaces the previous K12 four-cylinder engine. Maruti is aiming for higher fuel efficiency without compromising on power, with expected outputs similar to the outgoing model. There is also discussion of mild-hybrid technology. Transmission options, whether to stick with the AMT or upgrade to a 6-speed torque converter, remain uncertain.

new swift price

After launch, the new Swift will compete with rivals like Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago and Citroen C3. Prices are expected to increase marginally from the current range of Rs 6.24 lakh-8.83 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki’s recent price hike on the existing Swift is aimed at positioning the new model as a more attractive option in terms of affordability.
