In the last decade, the Modi government at the Centre has focused on the development of Jharkhand, which is rich in forest wealth and minerals. The impact of the ambitious projects of the Government of India is now visible in the state. Jharkhand is now directly connected to major cities across the country. Last Sunday, PM Modi inaugurated another major project, SIMI- network expansion of high-speed train. Now Vande Bharat trains have been extended to Tatanagar. Apart from this, the Centre has focused on rail, road and air connectivity of major places, religious and tourism as well as industrial areas of Jharkhand.
The Centre has completed several projects in Jharkhand in the last decade, while many major projects are still in progress. On Sunday, PM Modi flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains, expanding the semi-high speed rail network. The PM also virtually inaugurated bullet trains to Tatanagar, developing the rail network. The new routes – Tatanagar-Patna, Deoghar-Varanasi, and Tatanagar-Berhampur – will significantly improve inter-state and intra-state connectivity.
The semi-high speed Tatanagar-Patna Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to run six days a week, completing the journey in about seven hours. The Deoghar-Varanasi route, connecting two major pilgrimage sites, will boost religious tourism and enhance Jharkhand’s rail infrastructure. The Modi administration has focused on developing infrastructure, reshaping Jharkhand’s economic landscape and increasing connectivity both domestically and internationally.
Focus on railway connectivity in the state
The NDA government’s introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains on routes such as Ranchi-Patna and Ranchi-Howrah has reduced travel time significantly. Also, projects such as Ranchi-Lohardaga-Tori railway line renovation and electrification have improved freight and passenger efficiency. The doubling of important lines and modernization of stations under the Amrut Bharat Station Yojana have laid the foundation for Jharkhand’s future as a logistics and transit hub.
Air travel continues to improve
After the launch of Deoghar Airport in the state, it is proving to be a milestone for air traffic in Jharkhand. It was inaugurated by PM Modi in the year 2022. With the launch of this airport, tourism and local businesses are also getting a boost by serving the religious tourists coming to Baba Baidyanath Dham. The Center has prepared to start the project of Bokaro and Dumka airport in future. Through which air traffic in the state will be strengthened.
Government gave boost to industrial sector
LPG bottling plants in Barhi and Bokaro are proving to be vital links to meet local energy needs. The Sindri Nano Urea Plant is important to reduce India’s dependence on urea imports. This plant provides affordable fertilizer to farmers in Jharkhand and surrounding states. Jharkhand has also been integrated into larger structures like the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor.
Improvement in basic amenities
The Modi government at the Center has focused on improving the social infrastructure of Jharkhand, especially education and healthcare. Many programs have been started with the aim of improving educational outcomes for disadvantaged communities. Eklavya Model Residential School is providing quality education to tribal children. Apart from this, the Center has also taken important steps towards free residential schooling. Apart from this, AIIMS Deoghar proved to be an important initiative for health facilities. Apart from this, the state is providing health facilities to lakhs of people through the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
