Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Shinde said on the alleged encounter of the accused in the Badalpur sexual harassment case that in the incident that happened yesterday, the accused fired at the police in transit, the police got shot. The police fired in self-defense. The opposition staged a rail roko movement in Badalpur saying that the law and order situation in Maharashtra is bad, then the same people were shouting that hand over the accused to us, we will teach him a lesson. But now they are sad. I think the opposition is so sad that they can even organize a condolence meeting for the accused.
Maharashtra’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) will investigate the case of the death of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur sexual abuse case. Since this incident is related to death in police custody, it will be investigated by Maharashtra CID. Police officer said that a team of CID officers will go to Mumbra bypass where this incident took place. They will also record the statement of those policemen who were present in the vehicle at the time of the incident. He said that CID officers will also record the statement of Akshay Shinde’s parents.
Family members of Badlapur rape case accused Akshay Shinde have challenged the police’s claim that Akshay first fired at a policeman after which the police retaliated in self-defence, killing him. Shinde’s family also claimed that the police had pressurised him to confess to the crime in the rape case. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday night that a high-level inquiry has been ordered into the events leading to Shinde’s death.
