New Delhi. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) issued notice to debt-ridden airline SpiceJet on a petition filed by one of its operational creditors. A two-member NCLT bench of Mahendra Khandelwal and Sanjeev Tanjan asked SpiceJet to file its reply and fixed November 14 as the next date of hearing in the case. SpiceJet is already facing insolvency petitions from several creditors including Willis Lease, Aircastle Ireland Limited, Wilmington and Celestial Aviation in NCLT and appellate tribunal NCLAT.
The latest petition has been filed by Techjockey Infotech Pvt Ltd, an operational creditor. The petition has been filed under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code through Karanjawala & Co. Techjockey Infotech claimed non-payment of about Rs 1.2 crore for software services provided to SpiceJet and appealed to initiate Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) against the airline. SpiceJet has raised Rs 3,000 crore by selling shares to qualified institutional buyers, which will provide it with the necessary capital.
