Jamaat-e-Islami was barred from contesting the elections after the Bangladesh High Commission cancelled its registration following a High Court order in 2013. Jamaat appealed against the order but the Bangladesh Supreme Court upheld the order in 2023.
Bangladesh is becoming a new laboratory of conspiracies against India. Many dangerous experiments have now started taking place in India’s neighboring country. The situation has become such that the radicals of Bangladesh are now issuing statements on India. Bangladesh’s largest Islamic political party Jamaat-e-Islami has now said that Dhaka and New Delhi should work together in a cordial manner to ensure peace in the region. Speaking exclusively to ANI in Dhaka, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said that Bangladesh has always been honest in this regard. One has the option to change his neighbor. The Bangladesh party leader said that that is why all the neighbors should maintain a favorable positive attitude and atmosphere so that peace remains between the neighboring countries.
Jamaat-e-Islami was barred from contesting elections after the Bangladesh High Commission cancelled its registration following a High Court order in 2013. Jamaat had appealed against the order but the Bangladesh Supreme Court upheld the order in 2023. On July 30 this year, Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliated organisations were banned by Sheikh Hasina. The government’s decision comes after protests in Bangladesh, which is said to have been taken over by radical Islamists, resulting in massive deaths.
But as soon as Sheikh Hasina was removed from power, the interim government of Bangladesh led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus lifted the ban on the party. The party’s deputy ameer says that he is in favour of good relations with India. Shafiqur Rahman said that India has done some things in the past which Bangladesh did not like. We feel that India and Bangladesh should not interfere in each other’s internal matters. Jamaat gets help from Pakistan. At the same time, this organization gets funding from China.
