Birth and education
Nirmala Sitharaman was born in a Brahmin family on 18 August 1959 in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. Her father’s name is Narayan Sitharaman and mother’s name is Savitri Devi. Sitharaman had a love marriage while studying. After marriage, she shifted to London. Then in the year 1991, she returned to India with her husband and settled in Hyderabad.
career

Nirmala Sitharaman was interested in politics from the very beginning. She became the spokesperson of the Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP in the year 2000. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 2006. A few years later, her husband also joined the BJP and Nirmala Sitharaman became the spokesperson of the party in the year 2010.

Nirmala Sitharaman has contributed a lot in the 2014 elections. In 2016, she took over the post of Minister of State. Then she became the Defense Minister during the NDA government.
