US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has refuted Russian allegations accusing the US of interfering in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that absolutely, we are not involved in the elections of India. A day earlier, Russia had claimed that the United States was trying to interfere in India’s parliamentary elections and destabilize the internal political situation in the country. At a media briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova also said that the US is yet to provide credible evidence of the involvement of Indian citizens in the foiled assassination plot against Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Miller said in a press conference that absolutely not, we are neither involved in the ongoing elections in India nor in the elections happening anywhere in the world. This decision has to be taken by the people of India. Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Zakharova called it a ‘routine baseless accusation by the United States against New Delhi’.
