Referring to the manpower required for infrastructure development, the External Affairs Minister said that unless we develop human resources, hard work is required when you build infrastructure.

Strange statements were seen a lot from the leaders in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Rahul Gandhi used the word Khata Khat during the election campaign. He had talked about ending poverty by putting one lakh rupees in the accounts of the poor. At the same time, now India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar took a dig at the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and said that one needs to work hard and life is not ‘khata-khat’. Speaking to the Indian community in Geneva, Jaishankar highlighted the infrastructure development achieved by the Narendra Modi government in the last 10 years. During his remarks, the Foreign Minister also mentioned the Khata Khat comment made by the Congress leader on a lighter note. The audience laughed a lot after Jaishankar’s statement.

Referring to the manpower required for infrastructure development, the Foreign Minister said that till we develop human resources, till you build infrastructure, hard work is required. You have to have policies. Life is not ‘khata-khat’. Life is another form of hard work. Jaishankar said that anyone who has done a job and worked knows this. So this is my message to you that we have to work hard on this. During an election rally as part of the Lok Sabha campaign, Rahul Gandhi had promised that if his party wins, he will transfer Rs 1 lakh to the account of a woman from every poor family in the country. During this, he had said that the transfer will be done ‘khata-khat’ i.e. immediately.

Let us tell you that Jaishankar was in Switzerland on a two-day visit from 12-13 September. During the visit, he interacted with a large gathering of the Indian community at the Permanent Mission in Geneva. He highlighted the rapid progress made by India and India’s vision of engaging with the world.
