Now 5 people can make payments from one UPI account? What are UPI circle-delegate payments?

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a new feature on its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform that allows users to share their UPI account with others. The feature called ‘UPI Circle-Delegate Payments’ enables primary account holders to delegate transaction rights to a secondary user. How will UPI Circle-Delegate Payments work? Will you get full control over your UPI account when sharing it with other users? What are the benefits of UPI Circle-Delegate Payments?
What are UPI Circle-Delegate Payments?
“UPI Circle-Delegate Payments is a feature wherein a UPI user acts as the primary link for partial or full delegation with his/her trusted secondary users on his/her UPI app,” NPCI said in a release dated August 13, 2024.
K V Sheetal, chief general manager, digital banking operations, Bank of Baroda, explains that, as the name suggests, UPI Circle-Delegate Payments is a new option to delegate a payment task to a family member or an acquaintance.
Now those who do not have a bank account can also make payment
The Reserve Bank of India has provided UPI Circle Delegated Payment Service. Let us tell you that it was launched by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). Through this, you can transact Rs 5000 in a day and a maximum of Rs 15,000 in a month. With this new facility, you will be able to add 5 people to your UPI by activating it in your mobile. Its biggest advantage will be that a person who does not have a bank account will also be able to make payment from another account.
There will be two types of users
There will be two types of users in UPI Circle-Delegate Payment. First primary and second secondary. The secondary user will have the facility of full and partial payment. Whereas, in the facility of full payment, the secondary user will not need approval from the primary user i.e. the person holding the account in the bank to make payment up to a limit. The payment of the secondary user with the facility of partial payment will not be completed until the primary user approves it.
