Now UPI payment facility will be available in UAE too, know everything

Making payments through UPI has now become very easy across the country. The process of making payments through this service is completed in a few seconds, in which there is no risk of any kind of fraud or cheating as it is completely secured with a PIN code.

Now, NPCI International Payments Limited, in partnership with Network International (Network), a leading promoter of digital commerce in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, has enabled QR code-based Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments through UPI’s point-of-sale terminals in the UAE.

The initiative ensures seamless and secure transactions for Indian tourists and non-resident Indians (NRIs) across Network International’s vast merchant network in the UAE, NPCI International said in a statement. The network has over 200,000 POS terminals for over 60,000 merchants across sectors including retail, hospitality, transportation and supermarkets, among others.

UPI acceptance will be rolled out gradually, covering a wide range of retail shops and dining outlets as well as tourist and leisure attractions, including the Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates. The network said that by enabling UPI acceptance through its POS terminals, it will provide a QR-based secure method to facilitate cross-border payments. It added that this will allow Indian tourists and NRIs with Indian bank accounts to use UPI for payments at the network’s POS terminals in the UAE.
