On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, from Blinkit to Swiggy did wonders, about 700 rakhis were sold every minute

These days shopping from home has become quite common. Sometimes we miss out on buying some items till the last moment. Especially on festivals like Rakhi, some things are missed. On one hand, the festivals have already begun with Rakshabandhan. In view of these festivals, all the records of sales have been broken on quick commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart.

This shows that people are relying heavily on these apps and platforms to shop during the festivals. Both companies surpassed the year 2023 benchmarks, setting new highs for orders and customer engagement.

Blinkit reaches new milestones
Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the platform’s remarkable success on X (formerly Twitter). “We surpassed the all-time highest number of orders in a day on Blinkit within a matter of minutes,” Dhindsa said. He also added that Blinkit has achieved the highest ever orders per minute, gross merchandise value and chocolate sales. We will surpass our all-time highest orders in a day on Blinkit in just a few minutes. We also achieved our highest ever orders per minute, gross merchandise value, chocolate sales and most other metrics today!

During Rakshabandhan, a record of 693 rakhis sold per minute was recorded, which indicates that the demand for rakhis was very high this time too. Apart from this, Dhindsa informed that Blinkit has expanded its reach internationally and has accepted orders from six countries including the US, Canada and Germany. Blinkit, formerly known as Grofers, was acquired by Zomato in 2022 in an all-stock deal worth $570 million.

Swiggy Instamart’s festive boost
Swiggy Instamart also saw a significant increase in sales during the festival. Co-founder Phani Kishan said Raksha Bandhan set a new record in terms of orders per minute, surpassing the platform’s previous peak. “We expect to sell as many rakhis today as we have sold in the entire year, and that is five times more than last year,” Kishan said.
