Opposition failed to break through BJP’s impenetrable fort Raver, will have to do a miracle in the assembly elections

Raver is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra. This constituency has been continuously occupied by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the last four elections. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Raksha Khadse has become an MP for the third time in a row. This parliamentary constituency came into existence in 2008 after the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002. In 2009, voting was held here for the first time to elect an MP. This area is a very beautiful area naturally due to the Satpura hills. The border of this area joins Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. This area is known for its large-scale banana production.
Raver Lok Sabha constituency falls under Jalgaon and Buldhana districts of Maharashtra. It is formed by combining Chopra, Raver, Bhusaval, Jamner, Muktainagar and Malkapur assembly constituencies. In the elections held in 2019, two seats each went to the account of Congress and BJP. At the same time, Shiv Sena and an independent candidate were successful in winning one seat. Chopra assembly seat of this Lok Sabha constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe category. Where till now all the parties except BJP have won. Currently, Latabai Chandrakant Sonawane, leader of Shiv Sena Shinde faction and wife of former MLA Chandrakant Sonawane, is the MLA.
Voting took place in the Raver Assembly seat of this Lok Sabha constituency during the first general election in the country. Congress has ruled over this seat for a long time. However, since 1985, BJP and Congress have been winning here alternately. Currently, Shirish Chaudhary of Congress is the MLA from here. Bhusaval Assembly seat of this Lok Sabha constituency is also reserved for Scheduled Caste category. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sanjay Sawarkar has been an MLA from here for 15 consecutive years. MLA Sawarkar reached the Assembly in 2009 on an NCP ticket.
Jamner assembly seat is also one of the strongest seats of Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. The party has remained undefeated on this seat since 1995. Girish Dattatreya Mahajan, one of the most popular leaders of Maharashtra, has won the election from here seven times in a row. Muktainagar Nagar assembly seat of Raver Lok Sabha constituency is also known in the entire state due to BJP’s strong leader Eknath Khadse. Who has been MLA from here for six consecutive times from 1990 to 2019. Currently, independent candidate Chandrakant Nimba Patil is representing this area. In the 2019 elections in Malkapur assembly constituency, known as number 21 in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Congress’s Rajesh Ekde succeeded in winning, ending the 25-year dominance of BJP’s Chainsukh Sancheti.
