Washington. Former US President and Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump said that America’s allies have taken advantage of it more than its enemies. Trump said in response to a question at the ‘Economic Club’ of Chicago, “Our allies have taken advantage of us more than our enemies.” Our ally is the European Union (EU). Our trade deficit with the EU is US$300 million. “We have trade agreements that are very bad,” he said. I ask who are the people who do this? They’re either very stupid or they’re getting paid.”
He said, “I imposed 27.5 percent tax on China. Otherwise, we will have a flood of Chinese cars. All our factories will be closed. We will have no jobs in the auto industry at all. This also applies to electricity, which is deadly, which I have mentioned. I taxed South Korea because they were sending trucks. I taxed myself to a great extent.”
Trump said, “Do you know that our car companies make almost all their money from small trucks, SUVs? If I take those taxes back, you’ll be screwed. Every car company will go out of business.” Answering questions on Russia, he defended his relations with President Vladimir Putin. On the issue of tax, he reiterated that India is a harsh country. Trump said, “India is a very tough country.” This is not just about China. I would say China is probably the toughest. You know what’s the hardest?
