Pakistan was shaken by 77 terrorist attacks in April, 70 people lost their lives, latest report claims

Islamabad. A security assessment report of an Islamabad-based think tank has claimed that after 56 terrorist attacks in the month of March, there were 77 attacks at different places in Pakistan in April in which 70 people lost their lives. Dawn News reported on Thursday that according to the report of Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the attack has caused huge damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 70 people, including 35 civilians and 31 security personnel, have been killed in these attacks.

According to the report, four terrorists were killed during the attacks and 32 civilians and 35 security personnel were injured in the attack, the news said. By comparison, there were 56 terrorist attacks in March that resulted in 77 deaths and 67 injuries. This indicates a 38 percent increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Although there has been a nine percent decline in the death rate, there has been no change in the number of injured. The security report also highlights efforts made by security forces to thwart potential attacks throughout the month. At least 55 suspected terrorists were killed and 12 arrested in the action of security forces during the attack. These also include those accused of the Basham suicide attack.

Compared to March, the number of terrorists killed has increased by 55 percent. The report further said that out of the total terrorist attacks in April, 73 percent of the attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tribal districts of the province have also been victims of attacks. Last month, 56 attacks were reported in this area. According to reports, 26 security forces and 17 civilians were killed in the attacks. The total number of injured was 32, including 19 security forces and 13 civilians. Major districts within KPK have seen more attacks than tribal areas.

There were 31 attacks in KPK in which 25 people died and 10 were injured. Southern District D.I. Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu and Tank are among the worst affected areas. There were seven terrorist attacks in DI Khan and Lakki Marwat, six in Bannu and two in Tank. Including these districts, 71 percent attacks have taken place in the entire KPK. Apart from this, there were four attacks in Peshawar and 1 attack each in Swat, Swabi, Charsadda, Shangla and Battagram. According to PICSS, at least 25 attacks took place in the tribal districts of KPK in which 18 people died and 22 were injured.

North Waziristan, Bajaur and South Waziristan are also among the areas most affected by terrorist attacks where nine, five and four attacks took place respectively. According to reports, 16 attacks took place in Balochistan. 21 people lost their lives in these attacks. These include 17 civilians and four security personnel. 31 people have been injured in the attack. Most of the attacks took place in the southern and south-western parts of the Baloch belt of the province. Particularly three attacks took place in Khuzdar.

Two attacks each in Kej, Kohlu, Quetta and 1 each in Chaman, Dera Bugti, Duki, Kalat, Kharan, Mustang and Nushki. A total of four attacks took place in Punjab province in the month of April in which three people lost their lives. There was only one attack here in March. An attack took place in Sindh province, killing three people. The report said that in the first four months of the year, Pakistan faced 323 terrorist attacks in which 324 people died and 387 people were injured.
