‘Panda Dogs’: Tourists were fooled in a zoo in China, dogs were painted like pandas, the truth came out when they barked

While China is known for its electronic goods, this country is also very famous for pandas. People from far off places go to China especially to see pandas. So that they can see this very cute and unique animal with their own eyes.

But China, which is famous for its deception and cunningness, has now started cheating tourists as well. A case has come up in China regarding pandas that has brought disrepute to everyone. Fake pandas have been found in China, which were disguised as pandas to attract tourists. A zoo itself has admitted this fraud.

The zoo says two of the dogs were painted to look exactly like pandas. The furry chow chow dogs, which look like the country’s beloved national animal, were spotted in a video shot by a visitor to the zoo in southern Guangdong province. The video, posted on Monday on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, has gone viral, being shared more than 1.4 million times and liked by more than 725,000 users.

In a photo shared by another user on social media, the black and white dogs can be seen in an enclosure with a sign next to it that reads “Painted Dogs.” The signboard reads, “We are called Panda Dogs, it is a pet dog that looks like a panda, painted and decorated by Chow Chow. We are gentle, smart, friendly, cute and adorable!”

The zoo’s manager, whose surname is Huang, said the dogs are one of its top attractions. “You can tell from our name that we are a ‘paradise of strange animals and cute pets,'” he told state-linked outlet Sichuan Observation. “These are chow chow dogs that are being portrayed (as pandas), because that’s part of our specialties.”

This is not the first time dogs have been painted to look like pandas or other wild animals in China. In May a zoo in eastern Jiangsu province caused an uproar when visitors noticed two dogs at the zoo had been painted black and white to look like pandas. After widespread criticism, the zoo admitted the trick.
