Now Indian players are ready to show their strength in the Paralympics. Paris Paralympic Games will be organized from 28 August to 8 September. While more than four thousand players from all over the world will compete for medals in 22 different sports, Indian players will participate in 12 sports.

So many Indian players will participate

India has announced the names of 84 players for Paris Paralympics 2024. This is the largest contingent ever sent by India to the Paralympic Games. India had sent 54 players to Tokyo Paralympics 2020. This included 14 female athletes. This time the Indian team includes 32 female players. PM Modi also wished the Indian team participating in Paris Paralympics.

Indian players will participate in these games

India will participate in 12 sports in Paris Paralympics this time. These include archery, athletics, badminton, canoeing, cycling, blind judo, powerlifting, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo. Tokyo Paralympics was India’s most successful Paralympic Games, during which India won a total of 19 medals including 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze. Due to which Indian players are expected to increase the number of medals this time.

With this, Amit Kumar Saroh will participate in the Paralympics for the fourth time. He will represent India in discus throw in the F51 category. Asian Para Games medalist and Arjuna Awardee Amit is the most senior member of this team. On the other hand, the youngest athlete is Sheetal Devi, who recently made headlines by winning gold medals in individual compound and mixed team archery at the 2023 Asian Para Games. Arshad Sheikh of Andhra Pradesh will make his Paralympic debut in para cycling.

Bhavina Patel, who won India’s first Paralympic medal in table tennis, will participate in the women’s singles event at Paris 2024. She will also partner Sonalben Patel in the women’s doubles. Harvinder Singh, the first Indian to win an archery medal at the Paralympics in Tokyo, will participate in the men’s individual recurve open and mixed team recurve open in the ST category.
