Indian players are giving a very good performance in Paris Paralympics 2024. In the women’s singles of badminton in the SU5 category, Indian shuttler Murugesan Thulasimathi lost in the final but got a silver medal. Actually, Murugesan defeated compatriot Manisha in the semi-finals. After which she faced a Chinese player in the final, in which she could not perform anything special.
Murugesan is the first Indian woman to reach the final of a badminton event at the Paralympics. In the final, Murugesan gave a good challenge to the Chinese player and soon equalized the score to 4-4. At one point, Murugesan had even taken a lead of two points, but Qiu Jia was successful in breaking this lead. After this, the Chinese player presented a tough challenge to Murugesan and did not take much time to win the match.
With this, after these two medals, the number of medals of India has now become 11. India has won two gold, four silver and five bronze medals so far. In this, Avani Lekhara won gold, Manish Narwal won silver, Preeti Pal won two bronze, Rubina Francis won bronze and Nishad Kumar won silver medal. On September 2, Yogesh Kathuniya won silver and Nitesh Kumar won gold, Manisha Ramdas won bronze and Thulasimthi won silver medal.
