Monday was a great day at the Paris Paralympics 2024. The mixed archery team of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar won the bronze medal in archery. The Indian mixed team scored 156 to beat the Italian team (155). With this, India has got 13 medals so far.
Earlier, the pair of Sheetal and Rakesh lost to Iran’s Fatima Hemati and Hadi Nori in a shootout in the semi-finals. For India, only Harvinder Singh won an archery medal in the Paralympics three years ago in Tokyo, during which he got a bronze medal.
The Indian pair came close to making it to the finals but had to face defeat after a great comeback by the Iranian team and a revision of the score by a judge. After the score was tied at 152-152, the match went into a shootout. It seemed that the Indian pair had won when the Iranian team scored 9 on the fourth three, then the judge after review declared it as 10. In the shootout, both the teams scored perfect but Fatima’s arrow hit the middle due to which the Iranian team made it to the finals.
