Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kiev on Friday on his visit to Ukraine. This is his first visit to the country since the war with Russia started in 2022. Modi will stay in Ukraine for about seven hours. He reached Kiev after a 10-hour train journey amid tight security. The Indian side gave virtually no details of Modi’s program in Ukraine, citing security protocols associated with visiting an active war zone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in Kiev, Ukraine. The statue was installed in 2020 on the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region, PM Modi wrote on Twitter before leaving for Ukraine. Modi’s visit to Ukraine comes more than a month after his two-day visit to Russia for the annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During his visit, Modi held an informal meeting with Putin, followed by a dinner at Putin’s residence in the suburb of Novo-Ogaryovo.
