Taking a step towards holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for one nation one election. PM Modi has tweeted about this. In his post, Modi wrote that the Cabinet has accepted the recommendations of the high-level committee on simultaneous elections. I congratulate our former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji for leading this effort and consulting a wide range of stakeholders.

BJP President JP Nadda has posted on X. He wrote that the Union Cabinet chaired by Narendra Modi has accepted the recommendations of the high-level committee on the ‘One Nation One Election’ initiative. Nadda further wrote that the current system of holding elections at different times in the states hinders development efforts and puts a burden on the national treasury. Adopting “One Nation, One Election” will help reduce election-related expenditure and financial burden on the government. He wrote that the aim of this historic decision is to streamline the electoral process and ensure better governance. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that under the visionary leadership of Narendra Modi, today Indian democracy has taken a historic step towards one nation-one election.
