There have been a series of attacks in Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan. Fed up with the looting and atrocities of Pakistan and China, Majeed Brigade of Baloch Liberation Army has carried out coordinated attacks in 10 different places of Balochistan. So many attacks have not taken place in Balochistan in Pakistan in the last several years. Baloch rebels have claimed that they have killed more than 130 soldiers of Pakistan. Baloch rebels have stopped buses and trucks on the highway and killed more than 40 people. Everyone’s identity cards were checked and whoever was found to be a Punjabi from Pakistan’s Punjab province was killed. Baloch believe that whatever little development Pakistan has done, it has done in its Punjab province only. Whereas Balochistan has only been looted. That is why Pakistani Punjabis have been targeted. Baloch have destroyed many highways and have also captured many police posts. The railway line between Pakistan and Iran has also been targeted.

Senior Police Superintendent Ayub Khoso said the passengers were asked to get off the buses and were shot dead after checking their national identity cards. Khoso said most of the deceased were from southern Punjab and some from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, indicating that they were killed because of their ethnic background. In another attack, at least 11 people, including four police officers, were killed by gunmen in Balochistan’s Kalat district, authorities said. Kalat, located about 150 km south of the capital Quetta, is a region dominated by Baloch tribes.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the terrorists responsible for this incident will be given severe punishment. He said that any kind of terrorism is not acceptable in the country. Both the President and the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminate the problem of terrorism. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has strongly condemned this incident of terrorism. There was also an incident in 2015 when gunmen attacked a labor camp near Turbat and killed 20 people. According to the Pakistan Institute of Conflict and Security Studies, there were 170 terrorist attacks in Balochistan last year in which 151 civilians and 114 security personnel died.
