Pressure bomb explodes in Dantewada district, brother and sister injured

A 39-year-old man and his younger sister were injured when they were hit by a pressure bomb in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Dantewada district, police said on Thursday.

Police officials said that Juru Ram Katlami and his sister Sunita Katlami (25) were injured when a pressure bomb hit them between Gufa and Tadelwaya villages under the Barsoor police station area of ​​the district.

He told that a relative of Juru and Sunita had died in Salepara on Wednesday and both the siblings had gone to attend his funeral. When they were returning to their village Gufapara late at night, their foot stepped on a pressure bomb planted by the Naxalites, which exploded and both of them got injured.

Officials said Juru sustained injuries on his right leg and his sister on her face. Police officials said both the villagers were rushed to Barsoor Hospital after the police came to know about the incident.

Later, both of them were admitted to the district hospital of Dantewada for better treatment. He said that the operation against Naxalites is going on in the area. In the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites often plant landmines and pressure bombs in the forest to harm the security forces, which also harms the villagers and cattle. Earlier on June 19, a woman was injured after being hit by a pressure bomb in Bijapur district.
