Former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid answered what changed in the T20 World Cup 2024 and ODI World Cup 2023 finals. Actually, Rahul Dravid believes that sometimes a little luck can change the results of a big match, for which he described India’s defeat to Australia in the ODI World Cup final as heartbreaking. He gave the example of his team’s spectacular victory against South Africa in the T20 World Cup final. India lagged behind in the ODI World Cup final after winning 10 consecutive matches last year. At the same time, 6 months later, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid together completed the unfinished task and won the title.
On Wednesday, Rahul Dravid was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the CEAT Rating Awards program. During this, he said that, I got time to think about it. He further said that I got time to think about many of the things that we did. Sometimes you realize that you have to do many of these things, you have to follow the process. You have to do everything right. Dravid said that sometimes you need a little luck. In the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, 30 balls were to be bowled and 30 runs had to be scored. He also mentioned Suryakumar Yadav’s catch to dismiss David Miller. Rahul said, “We did not focus on what we had to do, but we needed a player who could do it within a certain limit. Sometimes it is a skill. This catch turned the match in India’s favour.”
Dravid then recalled that India were close to dismissing Travis Head in the ODI World Cup final but the opening batsman got lucky and scored a match-winning century, dashing India’s hopes.
Rahul Dravid said that sometimes things may go in your favour, but you should stick to the process. After India’s T20 World Cup win, Dravid retired as India’s coach.
