Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ends, the team gives a grand farewell with T20 World Cup win

With the victory of the T20 World Cup, the tenure of Rahul Dravid with the Indian team as the head coach also ended, who showed a journey to success with dignity and decency even under the heavy pressure of modern cricket coaching. However, ‘The Wall’ was also seen getting emotional after winning the ICC title after 11 years.

As soon as the final’s ‘Player of the Match’ Virat Kohli handed him the trophy, he let out a loud voice as if he was finally expressing all his inner emotions. One can hardly imagine seeing Dravid doing this. He never gave sensational headlines but kept working quietly like Gary Kirsten. The challenges as a coach were not easy as he had a team which had the most fans in world cricket and a team which had famous stars.

His challenges started after a limited overs series against Sri Lanka in 2021. He was officially made the full-time head coach of India in November. Before him, India had performed well under the coach of Ravi Shastri, so he had a big responsibility to take the team forward. As a coach, he could not tour Australia, but his team defeated Australia in different formats. However, the Test series against the weak South African team with one defeat and one draw will continue to haunt him.

Apart from the challenges on the field, managing the Indian dressing room full of superstars was no less challenging. He knew that even a small issue would blow out of proportion in no time. But Dravid has a great ability to manage situations and people, which he used to his full advantage as a coach. He created an environment in which every player could excel.
