BJP’s biggest face in Jammu and Kashmir and party president Ravinder Raina announced the grand start of the party’s election campaign with the launch of the media center and informed that the nomination process for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has started. BJP President Ravinder Raina has expressed happiness over the party’s preparations for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He informed that the BJP has made a grand start to the election campaign and the nomination process has also started. He explained in detail about the party’s election strategy and activities, indicating that the BJP has completed all the necessary preparations and is committed to strengthen its presence in the electoral field.

Ravinder Raina was born on 31 January 1977 to Mr. Pushp Dutt in a Pahari-Brahmin family in Nowshera, Rajouri district of Jammu. He graduated in BSc from Jammu University Jammu in 1999. He also has a postgraduate degree in International Law of Human Rights. After completing his graduation, Raina joined the Merchant Navy but later returned as a human rights activist in 2004. Ravinder Raina has been closely associated with the welfare of victims of terrorism in the state. Raina was advised by former Prime Minister Vajpayee to join the BJP during a meeting.

His hard work and dedication soon earned him an opportunity to serve as the state president of the party’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). During the budget session in early 2018, Raina, along with his party colleagues, raised anti-Pakistan slogans in the House several times to protest the frequent ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country along the Line of Control (LoC). Raina had courted controversy in 2015 when he took oath as MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in the name of “Mata Vaishno Devi”. Opposition members had registered their objections, saying there was no provision for a member of the Legislative Assembly to take oath in the name of “Mata Vaishno Devi”.
