PDP spokesperson Mohit Bhan said that we have heard that Rahul Gandhi is coming to Srinagar tomorrow on a two-day visit. But I don’t think he is coming here with an alliance agenda. But our party leaders have always been saying that we have a secular ideological stand which matches that of the Congress. Wherever there will be a need to strengthen secular voices, strengthen anti-BJP voices to save democracy, we will always be ready to contribute to any party. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on 21 and 22 August to discuss with their party leaders on preparations for the assembly elections. Party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal gave this information. He posted on the social media platform ‘X’ that on August 21 and 22, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will visit Jammu and Srinagar for important meetings regarding preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.
Elections will be held in three phases for the 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Assembly elections are going to be held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir after most of the provisions of Article 370 were abolished in 2019.
