Rohit thanked Dravid, said you did not let your achievements dominate

New Delhi. India’s T20 World Cup winning captain Rohit Sharma gave an emotional farewell to the team’s former head coach Rahul Dravid, thanking him for his human management skills and not letting his image of a star player dominate his work. Dravid, who was the head coach for almost three years, left his post after making the team champion in the T20 World Cup played in America and West Indies. Rohit wrote on his Instagram page about Dravid, his first captain in international cricket, “My wife (Ritika Sajdeh) calls you my ‘work wife’ and I am lucky that I have the right to call you like that. ”

This post of Rohit also shows the harmony between the player and the coach in the Indian dressing room. The Indian captain further wrote, “I am trying to find the right words to express my feelings on this but I am not sure I will be able to do so.” He said, “You are a true legend of this game but you left behind your achievements and took over the post of our coach and you reached a level where we could talk to you comfortably.” Rohit wrote, “This is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after so much time.”

Rohit made his international debut in 2007 in Dublin and Dravid was the captain of the Indian team then. Dravid recently revealed that Rohit had asked him not to leave the post after losing the final of the ODI World Cup last year. Rohit said, “I respect you like billions of other people since childhood but I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work so closely with you. I learned a lot from you and I will cherish every memory.” The Indian captain expressed happiness that both of them achieved their goal on the T20 World Cup victory. He said, “This was lacking in many of your achievements and I am very happy that we achieved it together. Rahul Bhai, it is a great honor for me to call you my confidant, my coach and my friend.
