Nagpur: Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Sunday said his party RPI(A), which is part of the ruling Mahayuti, should get a chance to contest at least 10 to 12 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Athawale said the RPI(A) will contest on its party symbol and will demand three to four seats in Vidarbha, including North Nagpur, Umred (Nagpur), Umarkhed in Yavatmal and Washim.
The Republican Party of India (Athawale) is part of the Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. “The RPI (A) has made a list of 18 probable seats, which it will share with Mahayuti allies in a few days and is hopeful of getting at least 10 to 12 seats in the seat-sharing agreement,” the Union minister said. He said the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP should give his party four seats each from their quota.
