Ruckus grows over Mahua Moitra’s ‘pajama’ comment, country shocked by indecent comment on NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma, instructions to Delhi Police to file FIR

Trinamool Congress’s outspoken MP Mahua Moitra has given another controversial statement. This time her target is National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma. The kind of comment Mahua Moitra has made on Rekha Sharma has heated up the politics in the country. The question is being raised that how can a woman make such an indecent comment against another woman? Let us tell you that a video posted on the social media platform X showed NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma arriving at the site of the stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, on which Mahua commented, “She is too busy handling her boss’s pajamas.” Mahua had deleted her post after this. Let us tell you that the original post shows a man walking behind the NCW Chairperson holding an umbrella. Clearly taking a jibe at the NCW Chairperson, Mahua said, “I can handle my umbrella myself.”

In response to Mahua Moitra’s post, the NCW said in a post on ‘X’, “The indecent remarks are derogatory and violate a woman’s right to live with dignity. The Commission found that the remarks fall under Section 79 of the Indian Justice Code, 2023.” The NCW said that it strongly condemns the derogatory remarks and wants strict action against Moitra. The NCW wrote, “An FIR should be lodged against Moitra and a detailed action report should be informed to the Commission within three days.” Apart from this, the NCW, in a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requested that the Lok Sabha Speaker investigate the matter and take appropriate action against Moitra. The NCW said that this ‘indecent’ remark is not only derogatory, but it violates a woman’s right to live with dignity.

After this, while ‘reposting’ the NCW’s post on ‘X’, Moitra wrote, “Delhi Police come, please act immediately on these suo motu orders. If you need me to make quick arrests in the next three days, I am in Nadia.” In another post, Moitra shared several ‘screenshots’ of posts made by Rekha Sharma and said that an FIR should also be lodged against those posts. Let us tell you that this post included a ‘screenshot’ of a post in which Rekha Sharma commented on Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, calling them ‘fools’. In another post, Rekha Sharma said, “Mahatma Gandhi cannot be a good son, how do we call him the father of the nation…”
